Sidharth Malhotra’s latest film, “Yodha,” had a lackluster start at the box office, receiving mixed reviews on its first day. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that the movie, directed by Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre, earned Rs 4.25 crore. Despite starring Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna and being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, “Yodha” struggled to draw audiences, with a total occupancy of only 13.86 percent on its opening day. In major cities like Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, where it had numerous screenings, the occupancy rates were 15.5 percent and 14.25 percent, respectively.
Released alongside “Bastar: The Naxal Story,” “Yodha” managed to outperform its competitor, which earned only Rs 50 lakh. However, it faces stiff competition from Ajay Devgn’s “Shaitaan,” which has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark globally.
Malhotra’s track record at the box office has been mixed, with his last theatrical hit being “Kapoor & Sons” in 2016. Although he received acclaim for “Shershaah” in 2021, the film’s release during the lockdown prevented it from being a box office success. His recent theatrical releases, including “Thank God” in 2022, “Marjaavaan” and “Jabariya Jodi” in 2019, and “Aiyaary” in 2018, have failed to make a significant impact, according to Bollywood Hungama.
However, Malhotra made his digital debut earlier this year with Rohit Shetty’s “Indian Police Force,” signaling a shift in his career trajectory.
