The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has brought to attention the challenges confronting the majority of CUET (PG) 2024 aspirants from the State. These candidates have been assigned examination venues located outside Manipur, compelling DESAM to petition the relevant authorities for the relocation of these venues.

During a press briefing held today at the DESAM Office in Kwakeithel, Nongthombam Thoithoiba, the secretary-general of DESAM, emphasized the difficulties faced by State candidates preparing for the CUET (PG) 2024 examinations scheduled to commence on March 11. Many of these candidates find it financially unfeasible to travel outside Manipur to sit for the exam, given the prevailing conflict.

Thoithoiba highlighted the infeasibility of road travel due to the crisis and underscored the exorbitant costs associated with air travel and hotel accommodations. This financial burden is exacerbated for candidates currently residing in relief camps.

He implored the Chief Minister, Education Minister, and Union Minister of State for Education to facilitate the relocation of examination centres to secure areas within the Manipur valley.

Furthermore, the DESAM secretary-general disclosed that a written petition has been formally submitted today to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Union Minister of State for Education, and the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University in connection with this matter.
