In response to the distressing living conditions of four underage individuals in Moirangpurel, Imphal East, as depicted in a widely circulated video on Facebook, the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has directed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Imphal East to furnish a comprehensive report.
In the best interest of these juveniles, MCPCR has advised CWC Imphal East to deliver an exhaustive account concerning the aforementioned four youngsters. This should include details on the strategies outlined by CWC to safeguard and rehabilitate the children, according to a statement issued by Keisam Pradipkumar, the Chairperson of MCPCR.
Furthermore, the Commission has proposed the swift initiation of the Mission Vatsalya Scheme’s sponsorship program for these minors. Additionally, it has mandated the District Child Protection Unit in Imphal East to support CWC Imphal East in implementing the aforementioned recommendations. The Chairperson of MCPCR has insisted on the submission of an action taken report by March 9.
It is noteworthy that MCPCR has explicitly stated that the individual who posted the viral video seemed oblivious to the established ethical guidelines and norms applicable when broadcasting, publishing, or telecasting content featuring such vulnerable children. MCPCR reiterated that the video creator exhibited no malicious intent.
MCPCR has also made an appeal to all concerned parties, urging them to refrain from uploading videos or photos depicting destitute children. Such actions may lead to uncontrolled exposure of the children, potentially compromising their emotional integrity, sentiments, privacy, decency, and dignity.
