In a significant move to fortify security measures in Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated seven Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) for the state police force at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground. The deployment of these state-of-the-art Quick Reaction Fighting (QRF) vehicles, provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, comes amidst the persistent ethnic conflict in the region since May 3 of the previous year.
CM Biren Singh took to social media platform Facebook to underscore the importance of these MPVs in augmenting the capabilities of the Manipur Police to safeguard citizens. He emphasized the collective commitment towards ensuring a safer environment for all residents of Manipur.
With the integration of these advanced vehicles into their fleet, the Manipur Police are poised to enhance their operational efficiency, particularly in vulnerable zones. This move is expected to bolster security measures across the state, mitigating potential threats effectively.
Acknowledging the support, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh expressed gratitude to the chief minister for the timely provision of MPVs and for his continuous encouragement to the force. He further highlighted the imminent arrival of three additional MPVs, emphasizing their strategic deployment to reinforce security and safeguard the populace of Manipur.
The launch event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, alongside senior administrative and police officials.
