Manipur’s cabinet minister, Nemcha Kipgen, has taken a proactive stance to address and clarify allegations put forth by the United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) concerning her purported involvement in the ongoing state crisis.
Minister Kipgen vehemently dismissed circulating reports that insinuated her accusatory statements against ULFA-I, claiming the group’s supply of weaponry to target the Kuki community. Denouncing these assertions as “baseless and misleading propaganda,” she pointed fingers at vested interests orchestrating a campaign to not only tarnish her reputation but also sway the group’s sympathies toward other communities.
“I have not issued any official statement or made allegations against ULFA-I regarding the provision of weapons to target the Kuki community,” clarified Minister Kipgen, eager to set the record straight on the matter.
Suggesting a possible ulterior motive, she speculated that opportunistic actors might be capitalizing on the ongoing conflict in Manipur to mislead ULFA-I and the general public, all while aiming to tarnish her image.
With a firm disassociation from the alleged misinformation, Kipgen asserted, “I am in no way associated with this false narrative and vehemently disapprove of such concocted and deceptive propaganda.”
