A day preceding the commencement of the State Assembly session, Hijam Kullajit has fervently urged the Government to deliver justice in the heart-wrenching case of his daughter, Hijam Linthoingambi, who fell victim to Kuki militants last year.
The tragic saga unfolded on July 6 when two teenagers, Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit, went missing, allegedly captured by armed militants. The distress endured by the families lingered for almost two months until September 25 when photographs, purportedly depicting the abducted students and the aftermath of their tragic demise, surfaced on social media.
Speaking from his residence at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai, Hijam Kullajit revealed that despite the apprehension of some individuals in connection with the case, the family remains uninformed about the progress of the investigation, which is currently under the purview of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Adding to the family’s grief is the unsettling fact that the bodies of the two victims have yet to be located. Additionally, adhering to requests from the government and others, the last rites for Linthoingambi remain pending, deepening the sorrow for her family.
In an impassioned plea for a swift and comprehensive investigation leading to justice for Linthoingambi, Kullajit implored the Government to prioritize the case in the upcoming Assembly session. The grieving father’s plea underscores the urgency of resolving the case, bringing closure to the affected families, and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
