In a distressing development, the outskirts of Imphal East district witnessed a disturbing and violent episode as heavily armed Kuki militants launched a series of aggressive attacks on Meitei villages, causing significant upheaval in the region. The targeted villages, including Uyumpok, Pukhao Shanti-pur, and surrounding areas, became the battleground for a fierce confrontation between the well-armed militants and vigilant village volunteers.
The orchestrated attack, initiated since the previous night, was not limited to specific locales, with subsequent reports indicating additional gunfire at Sinam Kom and Tairenpokpi today. Kuki militants strategically positioned themselves on Khamenlok Mathak Ching and Pukhao Shantipur Mamang Ching, unleashing a barrage of bombs and bullets against village volunteers who have been diligently safeguarding Meitei villages.
