Lok Sabha MP Bimol Akoijam has strongly refuted government claims of peace and normalcy in Manipur, describing them as blatant lies. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, Akoijam criticized the government’s handling of the ongoing violence and recent abductions.
Akoijam highlighted the recent abductions, including an eight-month-old infant and several women, comparing the situation to terrorist acts in conflict zones like Gaza. He condemned the government, stating, “The Indian republic has been turned into a Banana Republic in Manipur.”
The MP held the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, along with the state government and local MLAs, accountable for the violence and abductions. “If anything untoward happens to the abducted, these officials should be held responsible,” he asserted.
Akoijam pledged to raise these issues in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament. “It is my duty as a representative of the people,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring the safety and release of the abducted individuals.
