The Federation of Civil Society Organizations (FOCS) Manipur has called for the removal of Central paramilitary forces and Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, citing their alleged failure to prevent escalating violence in the state.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, FOCS condemned the recent attack in Jiribam, where Kuki militants set fire to the residence of retired police officer Sinam Bipin in the Borobekra sub-division of Jakuradhor Bazar. This incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.
FOCS criticized both the Central paramilitary forces and Security Advisor Singh for their inadequate response to the deteriorating security situation in Manipur. Despite the heavy deployment of Central forces in the region, FOCS reported continued attacks and arson.
The organization accused the forces of failing to intervene effectively as militants continue to target Meitei villages on the outskirts. Consequently, FOCS has demanded the immediate withdrawal of Central security forces, asserting that they have not effectively protected the local population.
